Set Sail in Greece

A Beginner-to-Expert Guide through Ten Iconic Trips

A cruising companion with ten complete itineraries answering all key questions for a safe and enjoyable sailing trip in Greece. Every leg is written from the cockpit: where to tuck in when it blows force 7, which quays hold in a swell, and which anchorages are worth the extra two hours of beating.

Ideal for chartering a monohull or catamaran, these routes also serve as a valuable guide for boat owners. Each route follows a one- or two-week itinerary, starting from major charter bases such as Athens, Lavrio, Lefkas, Preveza, Paros, Kos, Rhodes, Volos, Samos and Chalkidiki.

The author

Ilias Bosdas

Is a Greek sailor who started sailing in the Aegean Sea at the age of eleven in an Optimist dinghy. He obtained his sailing license in 2004 from the Nautical Club of Thessaloniki and has spent years chartering sailing boats across Greece for his holidays. Despite the joy of sailing, there was always a feeling of uncertainty and this motivated him to begin writing sailing guides to help others navigate the Greek waters with confidence. He has sailed every route presented in his books, visited each harbour, anchorage and bay and selected the best options based on his experiences. In his professional life, he has studied mechanical engineering in Greece and holds a PhD in the same field from ETH Zurich University. Since then he has worked as an R&D team leader in various product development groups.
